Admix Auto-Calculate Amount in mL

To reduce the potential for errors when a drug volume is manually calculated, iKnowMed is capable of calculating the Amount in mL for a medication in the Planning pane. With Admix Auto-Calculate enabled, Amount in mL is calculated based on the ordered Amount and Units and the selected Dose Form Description.

The medication Amount in mL field is read-only. To override the calculation, click the Edit (pencil) icon and enter a new Amount in mL.

Enable Admix Auto Calculate for a Practice

To enable Admix Auto Calculate at your practice:

  1. Navigate to Practice Preferences.

  2. Scroll to the Other Features section and set Admix Auto Calculate to Enabled.

  3. Click SAVE.

Enable Admix Auto Calculate for a Person

To enable Admix Auto Calculate for a specific user:

  1. Follow the Enable Admix Auto Calculate for a Practice steps above.

  2. Navigate to User Preferences.

  3. Click the Other user preferences tab.

  4. Check Admix Auto Calculation.

  5. Click SAVE.

Enable Admix Auto Calculate for a Medication

To enable Admix Auto Calculate for a medication:

  1. Follow the Enable Admix Auto Calculate for a Practice steps above.

  2. Follow the Enable Admix Auto Calculate for a Person steps above for at least 1 person.

  3. Navigate to Manage > Medications.

  4. Find the medication in the list.

  5. Click the medication to open it.

  6. Under General Preferences, check Admix Auto Calculate.
