About CCDAs
iKnowMed uses the term CCDA to refer to a few types of files that contain patient information that can be shared with an outside provider or organization.
For a patient record that is electronically shareable with other EHRs, iKnowMed has 3 flavors of CCDA. Each one has a couple of names depending on where they appear in iKnowMed.
Names | Description |
|---|---|
"Clinical Summary" "Export Patient Record (1-year) File (CCDA)" | A summary of information entered in a chart in the past year |
"Clinical Chart" "Export Patient Record File (CCDA)" | A summary of information entered in a chart |
"Referral Note" "Export Patient Referral Note File (CCDA)" | A summary of information entered in a chart including the Referral Reason and Referring Provider info |
These CCDAs are generated in the following areas in iKnowMed:
Carequality
CCDA Batch
Direct Exchange Messaging
Health Information Exchange
Release of Health Information Chart Summary Widget
A CCDA is often used to share patient information between providers, like when transferring a patient between settings of care and when reconciling Allergies, Medications, and Problems. CCDAs can be attached to charts, they appear in the Documents list, and they are maintained as a Document Type.
