In a case where there are many files to be uploaded, iKnowMed and iKnowMed Listener can work together to automate the document attaching process.

Requirements

Each patient MRN must be in iKnowMed as a chart.
Each Provider must have an iKnowMed account.
Each Document Type must exist in iKnowMed with the Owner Practice set to your practice. For example, a Document Type with Owner Practice set to EMR Master, cannot be used for this automated attaching process.
The files to upload must be renamed to follow the Filename Convention explained below.
iKnowMed Listener File Name Pattern must be set up to match files with that naming convention.

Filename Convention

FormattedDocument_[MRN]_[YYYY-MM-DD]_[ProviderUsername]_[DocumentType].[FileType]

Lets consider each part of this naming convention in order.

The "FormattedDocument" keyword tells iKnowMed that the file name follows the naming convention.
Each underscore (_) character separates values in the filename. 2 underscores in a row indicate the value between them is blank. (See examples 1 and 4 below.)
Each square bracket represents the beginning ([) and ending (]) of a value in the naming convention and should not be included in an actual filename.
Replace [MRN] with the patient medical record number.
Replace [YYYY-MM-DD] with the Date of Service for the document.
Replace [ProviderUsername] with the provider's iKnowMed username.
Replace [DocumentType] with the Document Type Name set up in iKnowMed.
- This is the only value in the filename that can include spaces.
- When creating a Document Type in iKnowMed, do not use an underscore in the Name. If a Document Type absolutely must have an underscore in the Name, insert a semi-colon (;) before the underscore to indicate the underscore is part of the value and not a value separator. (See example below.)
The period (.) separates the filename from the filetype.
Replace [FileType] with the document filetype (e.g., PDF, PNG, XML, etc.)
