About Therapeutic Interchange (TIC)
Therapeutic Interchange makes ordering more efficient. When a Regimen is ordered, TIC reduces extra work, denied claims, and delays by substituting a medication preferred by your practice or a medication that aligns with insurance approvals. iKnowMed suggests a medication based on the Preferred Medications and Payer Rules your practice sets up. A provider can override a medicine substitution and include a justification.
Each substitution is evaluated for the current date when a Regimen Order (new or draft) is saved to a chart. iKnowMed only substitutes a medication on an optional order in the Regimen that is checked by an ordering clinician.
When a checked, optional medication in a Regimen Order belongs to a Therapeutic Group that has a Preferred Medication or Payer Rule set up, iKnowMed substitutes the checked medication with the medication your practice selects in the Preferred Medication or Payer Rule.
Therapeutic Interchange lists each Therapeutic Group by name, Practice Preferred medication, Status, Last Modified Date/Time, and Last Modified By.
